About us

Mulonga Empowerment Organization was first called Oasis informal, which was formed in the month of September 2018. The group later changed its name from Oasis Empowerment Team to Mulonga Empowerment Organization during the registration process where it was discovered that another organization was using the same name. The term “Mulonga” is a Bemba word (local language) for river or stream. The Organization (headed by six board of directors) is a team of educated, dynamic and like-minded men and women from different work backgrounds that have a burden to help vulnerable adolescents and young people as well as older women (the marginalized) in the area of education and their well-being. The Organization is independent as well as nonprofit making, registered under nongovernmental act no 16 of 2009 of the republic of Zambia.

Mulonga Empowerment Organization is a community – based non-profit organization working to empower individuals, families and communities through practical skills, education, health awareness and community development initiatives.

The organization was established to respond to challenges affecting vulnerable people and communities by creating opportunities for learning, personal development and improved livelihoods.

Our objectives

Our activities

Skills Development

We provide free tailoring and sewing lessons to women and young people, helping participants develop practical skills that can support future livelihood opportunities.

Sexual and reproductive health awareness

We conduct community-based awareness activities on sexual and reproductive health and sexually transmitted infections, including outreach to vulnerable groups.

Gender-based violence awareness

We participate in community sensitization activities aimed at increasing awareness of gender-based violence and encouraging individuals and communities to seek information and support.

Education and youth activities

We have supported educational activities for children and young people, including school-related initiatives and competitions designed to encourage learning and participation.

Environmental awareness

We participate in climate and environmental sensitization activities, including community and church-based tree planting initiatives.

Livelihood and community empowerment

We encourage practical skills, community participation and initiatives that can help individuals and families build greater independence and resilience.

Who we work with

Our activities include women, young people, children, vulnerable groups, community members, churches, schools, peer educators and other community stakeholders.

We believe that lasting community development is strengthened when people are given opportunities to participate, learn new skills and contribute to solutions affecting their communities.
